![]() The only reason I persevered was because I thought that the story of the guy hacking Valve's servers and getting the source code was daring and a love story in a way. The ONLY game that I pirated and went through hell getting it to run was Half Life 2. If I had to run 6 different programs to make it start up then I didn't even bother to play it once. Why? Because they packaged it in an easier to install manner. When I used to P2P software I always waited for certain Warez scene groups to release their version of it. Nothing more nothing less.Įven better example. I see it as a marketing tool for investor sentiment. DRM is a tool that companies can use as you said to skate around bad game releases and low sales numbers. That's why they can sell millions and win all of the awards at gaming shows even though a 10 year old can easily pirate their entire library in a few minutes on a fast connection. It is just damn easy to buy their games and play them when you want and how you want. No special symbols in a book that you have to enter into a box to continue the game. There are no authentication servers that go down and give you a headache. Why do the normally evil pirating consumers choose to purchase CD Projekt Red games instead of pirate them?īecause CD Projekt Red makes purchasing and updating their games easy and seamless. I literally can do a Google search for their games and download them for free no questions asked. Well you have to also realize that there are gaming companies like CD Projeckt Red that have no DRM on their titles and sell millions of copies. The problem with that is a lot of the games that use Denuvo run rather well. It would have to have at least a 30% performance impact to really do what people claim, but that would be across every single game that it's used in. Even if they're wrong and it has double what they stated, you're still only talking about 10fps at 100. Even at 100fps that 5% only comes out to a grand total of 5fps. IF SonyDADC is right and the impact on Denuvo is only around 5% then it pretty much has no effect on a game. DRM or not there is no possible way that the PC port of AK wouldn't end up a broken mess. Why are we taking the words of the LOTF devs at face value? They claim it is the cause, but don't you think that perhaps it's possible they were make excuses and refusing to admit that they fucked up? What about the PS3 and 360 versions of the game that are just as fucked as the PC port? AK is a disaster due to being given to a studio with very little experience, that fucked up the port of the previous game, was given very little time, and had most of their studio busy working on another game. ![]()
